MFL offer a range of linear strain gauges specifically tailored for the needs of students. The strain gauges are available in three sizes, 1.5mm, 3mm and 6mm (active gauge length) configurations and come in packets of ten. The strain gauges are designed with large solder tabs to ensure ease of leadwire attachment and to eliminate the need for additional terminal strips. Student strain gauges are easily identifiable by the MFL ST logo and are manufactured from Constantan foil with a flexible polyimide backing. In addition, the grid areas are encapsulated to provide greater protection during installation and test. All student strain gauges are 120 ohms and are available in Self Temperature Compensation versions of 11 or 23 ppm/° C or (6 or 13ppm/° F) for applications on many steel or aluminum alloys.
